Sometimes the best fishing happens when you don't have all day to spend on the water. Our 2-hour inshore fishing trips with I Love Fishing Charters pack all the excitement of Hilton Head's legendary backcountry fishing into a perfectly timed adventure. Captain Kim knows exactly where to find the redfish and speckled trout that call these waters home, and he'll have you casting into productive spots within minutes of leaving the dock. Whether you're squeezing in some fishing before dinner, introducing kids to the sport, or just want a quick taste of what makes Hilton Head such a world-class fishing destination, this trip delivers.
The beauty of a focused 2-hour trip is that every minute counts, and Captain Kim makes sure you're fishing the good stuff right away. You'll cruise through Hilton Head's scenic creek systems and backcountry flats, areas that hold fish year-round and offer some of the most consistent action on the island. The shallow waters warm up quickly and stay productive, making this the perfect trip for first-timers who want to actually catch fish instead of just hoping. All your tackle, bait, and gear come included, so you can show up empty-handed and still walk away with a cooler full of stories. The relaxed pace means there's time for instruction if you need it, but also plenty of opportunities to let experienced anglers do their thing.
Inshore fishing around Hilton Head is all about reading the water and working with the tides. Captain Kim sets you up with medium-action rods and spinning reels that can handle anything from slot-sized redfish to feisty trout. You'll be using fresh shrimp and cut mullet, two baits that are absolutely deadly in these creeks. The technique is straightforward but effective - bottom fishing around structure like oyster beds, creek bends, and grass lines where predator fish love to ambush baitfish. When the tide's moving, you might work some artificials like soft plastics or spoons. The water's generally shallow enough that you can see your target areas, and Captain Kim will position the boat so even beginners can get their baits in the strike zone without worrying about hang-ups or tangles.
"I'm not much of a fisherman, but I Love Fishing Charters made it so easy! I had a great time with Captain Kim and even caught five Red Drums. It's perfect for beginners, and I highly recommend it!" - Member. "Very knowledgeable, friendly, and dedicated to making sure all passengers have a great time. Captain Kim asked for everyone's experience levels fishing, both in general and inshore South Carolina fishing. Captain Kim adjusted how much he assisted and coached based on everyone's experience levels and made sure everyone had as much help as they needed to have a good time." - Christopher. "We had an amazing time with Captain Kim! We caught a redfish and turned it into a delicious dinner. Even though we were beginners, Captain Kim was a great teacher and made the experience fun and easy. We'd definitely book with him again and highly recommend him to anyone, regardless of skill level. He's also fantastic with kids!" - Stephen.
Redfish are the absolute stars of Hilton Head's inshore scene, and for good reason. These copper-colored fighters typically run anywhere from 14 inches up to that magical 27-inch slot limit, with plenty of oversized bulls mixed in for catch-and-release fun. Reds are structure-oriented fish that love hanging around oyster bars, creek mouths, and grass flats where they can ambush crabs and shrimp. They're aggressive feeders that will absolutely hammer a well-presented bait, and once hooked, they'll give you a fight that combines power with surprising endurance. The best part about targeting redfish around Hilton Head is their year-round availability - whether it's a cold February morning or a hot August afternoon, Captain Kim knows where to find them.
Speckled trout add a different dimension to your fishing experience, offering fast action and excellent table fare. These spotted beauties prefer grass flats and creek edges where they can use their excellent eyesight to hunt small baitfish. Specks typically range from 12 to 18 inches, with the occasional gator trout pushing over 20 inches for a real trophy. They're more sensitive to water temperature and weather changes than redfish, which makes them a bit more challenging but incredibly rewarding when you dial in the pattern. Trout have a soft mouth, so the fight is more about finesse than raw power, but their aggressive strikes and acrobatic jumps make up for any lack of bulldogging strength. Spring and fall offer the most consistent trout fishing, but Captain Kim knows the spots that produce during the warmer summer months too.
A 2-hour fishing trip might sound short, but it's amazing how much fishing you can pack into that window when you're working with a captain who knows these waters like the back of his hand. You'll experience the best of Hilton Head's inshore fishing without the time commitment of a full day, making it perfect for families, couples looking for a unique date activity, or anyone who wants to add some local flavor to their island vacation. Captain Kim provides everything you need to be successful, from quality tackle to expert instruction, plus he'll clean your catch at the dock so you can head straight to dinner. With accommodations for up to 3 guests, it's an intimate experience that lets everyone get plenty of fishing time and personal attention. Book your spot now and get ready to see why Hilton Head's backcountry fishing has such a devoted following among anglers who know where the good stuff really happens.

Very knowledgeable, friendly, and dedicated to making sure all passengers have a great time. Captain Kim asked for everyone's experience levels fishing, both in general and inshore South Carolina fishing. Captain Kim adjusted how much he assisted and coached based on everyone's experience levels and made sure everyone had as much help as they needed to have a good time. The tackle was well maintained and a joy to use. The bait provided was excellent with both Shrimp and Mullet. Captain Kim hooked the bait for my wife and got her fish off the hook for her, which she very much appreciated and I appreciated being able to focus on my own fishing. When we returned to the dock Captain Kim cleaned our fish, put the filets in a freezer bag, and gave us the scraps to use as crab bait and taught us how to crab off a pier with them. I will be booking another charter through I Love Fishing Charters and Captain Kim when I am back in HH. I recommend Captain Kim for all fishing experience levels. The price was very affordable and we all had an amazing time.
